How Plants Produce Oxygen?

The process of plants produce oxygen is also called photosynthesis process. Simply, definition of photosynthesis is the process by which a green plant turns water and carbon dioxide into food when the plant is exposed to light. The special organelle in the plant cells that can do through this process is called a chloroplast. There are 2 stages in photosynthesis; light dependent reaction and light independent or dark reaction.
Light dependent reaction is the reaction that only depend on the light, this reaction can’t happen in the dark. This reaction need the sunlight and excites the chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is part of leaf that absorbs light. During this process, water is split into oxygen and hydrogen ions. This is where the oxygen generated during photosynthesis comes from. Then the active electrons go through the electron carries, also referred to as the electron transport chain and in the process lead to the accumulation of the hydrogen ions inside the thylakoid membrane. Their concentration gradient through the ATP synthase, ADP and P come together to form ATP—the energy molecule.  The electrons going through the electron transport chain eventually end up combining with NADP+ to form NADPH, another energy-rich molecule that will be used later.  The result of this stage is oxygen, ATP, and NADH.
Light independent reaction is the reaction that can proceed if there is no light. This reaction doesn’t happen only in the dark. This reaction uses the energy from previous stage to convert carbon dioxide into glucose. This process needs 3 RuBP and end up producing the glucose, it’s called Calvin cycle.
End of this essay is the way plants produce oxygen is called photosynthesis. Start with carbon dioxide, water, and light then produce glucose and oxygen. The reaction looks like this 6CO2 + 6H2O (+ light energy) → C6H12O6 + 6O2.
